Elena's ICS programme in Nicaragua with Raleigh International

Elena's WASH programme in Nicaragua with Raleigh ICS · 19 October 2015
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!
In February I will volunteer for 12 weeks on a development programme in Nicaragua. This is part of the International Citizenship Service (ICS) which brings people together to fight poverty in developing countries. ICS partners with communities that have specifically requested their help. I'll be working with volunteers from Nicaragua on a project focusing on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) - this involves helping with community water management needs, and raising awareness of good sanitation and hygiene practices. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western hemisphere, where rural communities have limited access to clean water and sanitation, so these projects make very important positive change.
The initiative is 90% funded by the government and 10% is required to be raised by volunteers. My fundraising target is £800, and this money goes directly to the charity's projects and enables the ICS programme to continue. Any contribution from you will make a real difference so please give what you can.
