Story
Alright, alright, alright - we go again. Covid-19 scuppered it a bit last year, but this year we are hopefully on the home straight to the LONDON MARATHON!
Many of you will know that in a moment of madness back in 2019, I agreed to run this iconic marathon in support of Neuroblastoma UK. I am delighted to be fundraising for this charity who deserve no less than the most generosity in their bid to find treatments for, and help families, affected by neuroblastoma, a relatively rare and aggressive childhood cancer.
A year before I was born, my parents eldest son Neil passed away at age 14 from neuroblastoma. I never got to meet him. After 7 years of treatment, Neil left a huge hole in my wonderful parents and brother Martyn’s life.
Neuroblastoma UK, which was formerly the Neuroblastoma Society, was a great support for my family during this time. Nowadays the charity is doing amazing work into funding vital research and treatment and anything I can do to support their work in the hope that less families have to go through what mine did, I will eagerly do.
Neil would have been 45 years old this year. His memory lives on in plenty of ways in our family, not least through my gorgeous nephew Cyrus Neil Mahmoud who proudly carries his middle name.
So - 26.2 miles on 3 October 2021, plus everything in the run up to that....marathon training is quite a lonely journey, but let's be having you.
I am hoping to hit my £2,000 fundraising target for them this year and am SO grateful for anything you can put towards that! Please also come and also follow my training journey over on my Instagram page and blog, Chasing Ele. It's got the highs and the lows over there.
I really appreciate all your support. If you have any collaboration or fundraising ideas please get in touch :)
