Ellie Clarke's London Marathon 2022

London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·
In October 2019 I signed up with NSPCC to run the London Marathon in April 2020, it having always been on my bucket list and needing some sort of target to get running again.
Then... Covid.
So then, October 2020 it was to be. But no.
Still Covid.
So then, October 2021. Finally it looked like it would happen for me. But then I got Covid.
So then, 2nd October 2022 it is. Here we are at last and I really hope this time I at least make it to the start line.
Training definitely hasn't been the easiest, and I'd like to say I have kept the running up over the 3 years since I signed up. I'd like to say that but sadly I can't. And, despite being relatively consistent in following the plan since re-starting in March this year, I'm feeling far less prepared than when I ran the Robin Hood marathon in 2008, also for NSPCC. Apparently being 14 years older has its effects on the body...
As the 26.2 miles loom in front of me, my only aim is to get over the finish line, by hook or crook, hobble or crawl...
Please do spare a few pennies or pounds if you're able to, it'll give me something to focus on and of course it all benefits the incredible NSPCC.
Ps if you have donated previously, that will have been to the former Virgin Money Giving fundraising page. These have all now shut down since they are no longer the sponsors of the marathon hence this new one that I've created. But don't worry, your donation still counts and is recorded in the "offline donations" as I was advised to show by NSPCC helpers. Thank you very much if you were an early donation hero!
Pps cover photo is from the only other race I've done this year - Rat Race obstacle course. That beauty of a photo was halfway up a Gladiator style travelator... I'm hoping the marathon will at least be less muddy and obstacle-y.
