Story
Welcome to my "Elder Protection" fundraising web page. In order to carry on the work of protecting and preventing abuse on the elderly and vulnerable adults in this country the charity "ACTION on ELDER ABUSE" needs donations. Your money will be used in many ways, like helping to run the freephone helpline, training and educating key workers, and also by challenging government to make essential changes to the law which protect those at risk of abuse.
June 15th 2007 was WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY and to mark this day Elder Protection did a 17 mile snorkel swim from Ely to Cambridge to raise funds for "Action on Elder Abuse" and also make more people aware of the abuse elderly and vulnerable adults suffer every day in the UK. It was a brilliant day and got good press coverage all round. check out the INPEA web site for more news on this. www.INPEA.net
July has seen the production of our song NO SECRETS which was composed and recorded by HESH a local rock band. The lads have made a difference by getting involved in Breaking the Silence on Elder Abuse, you can too by listening to the song at www.elderprotection.co.uk and buying your own copy online.

Our photograph shows my visit to 10 Downing street on the 13th March 2007 when I took the fight for justice against Financial Abuse of Vulnerable Adults by care workers and others to the Prime Minister. We demand the Prime Minister to bring protection of the elderly to the same level as child protection ensuring that all reports of abuse are treated seriously and promptly.
Millions of pounds is stolen, defrauded or exploited from the elderly and vulnerable each year by care workers, sons and daughters or others in positions of trust. A staggering 53% of theft, fraud and deception, which takes place in a domiciliary setting, is committed by the victim’s own sons or daughters with 38% being committed by care workers, “these findings are horrendous” and it may seem inconceivable to most of us that this could be happening, but sadly it is a truth we all need to accept. The fact is that until we treat the abuse of elderly and vulnerable people with the same seriousness as child abuse, this level of theft, fraud and exploitation is likely to continue. So in donating through this site you are helping to bring this abuse to an end ensuring that you don't become a victim when you get older!
Thank you.
Many thanks for your support. Ed Mullenger L.M.P.A.
