Story
Each year we participate in a few charity events like the Race For Life (5km run), Pedal For Scotland (cycle 55miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh) or the Moonwalk (half marathon walk). However, this year, due to our challenge of climbing all the Munros (283 mountains in Scotland over 3000ft), neither of us have so far been able to take part in any such events, but we would still like to do something for charity.
We started our Munro bagging on 6 November 2010 and are currently on target to complete our final mountain on 1 October 2011. It has been a tremendous “once in a lifetime” experience, but has also proved to be particularly tough, as the weather conditions have been far from favourable. We have been keeping a blog of our adventure and if you want to see exactly what we have been doing check out our website at www.scotlandinview.com.
By the time we’ve climbed our 283rd Munro we will have:
· walked a total of 2,717 km
· climbed a total of 170,500 m – equivalent to over 19 ascents of Everest from sea-level
We thought it would be fitting, therefore, to climb our last Munro in aid of charity and have chosen Cancer Research – a charity that means a great deal to us, and one that we have supported for many years. We would like to raise as much as possible and a sum that reflects our year-long challenge, and so would be really grateful if you would be kind enough to sponsor us.
Your support and generosity is very much appreciated.
With kindest regards,
Elaine and Cameron
