Story

“Little Steps, Big Aspirations for All” is the mission statement for Columbia Grange School. For any of you who know Sam or any child with autism, the little steps are always worth celebrating so we’ve decided to take many little steps this year and run 874 miles. Each run (or walk for Malcolm) will be a little step but it’s definitely a big aspiration for us, committing to running 4 times a week all year.

Columbia Grange School do an amazing job and the dedication of the staff has been really tested this year where they’ve supported children who struggle with routine change through such a difficult year. They have excelled themselves, offering support to families, contact with occupational therapists, speech therapists... not to mention the phenomenal support for parents. As a charitable trust, Columbia Grange School and the associated Autism Outreach Team rely on fundraising and they usually host many events throughout the year where they are able to do this. Under COVID restrictions, this hasn’t been possible so we would like to do what we can to raise some money for them. They provide outreach hubs for children in mainstream schools and many enriching opportunities that would be difficult for families to give their children.

It’s been a difficult year for so many people but if you’re able to donate at some point during 2021 then it really will go to a worthy cause. We aim to finish this before Christmas, just in time for Malcolm’s 70th!
