Story
Since the Covid-19 crisis began, I have wanted to do something to help. Yet you feel so powerless to really do anything when you are isolating. I have recorded the song with children who are supported by The Children's Trust, using video calls and mobile phones, which has been great fun. We can’t wait to share it.
I have been an ambassador for The Children's Trust for nearly 40 years, and I am very proud to have been able to record this song with them while in lockdown.
Sing a Rainbow felt like the perfect song as some of the children are unable to speak so they have been learning the signs of the colours. The children have been showing me their wonderful pictures of rainbows which have really touched the hearts of everyone. Although the rainbow has been recently associated with the NHS it was actually the children of the UK that started to draw them as a symbol of hope during the early days of the crisis. I’m sure everyone won’t mind sharing the rainbow with The Children’s Trust as many of these children have had to be kept isolated in their room in order to protect them, and some haven’t seen their parents in weeks. Children are so wonderful and positive and resilient - they are the heart of our future.
Please donate what you can to help this wonderful charity.
