I am taking part in the 10k Total Warrior Challenge, an extreme obstacle course in the Lake District on Saturday 5th August (I must be mad!) to help raise funds for Alopecia UK.  The charity has helped me enormously through my struggle with Alopecia Universalis, an auto-immune disease.  I have, over a matter of a few months, lost all the hair from the whole of my body and it has been quite a challenge to come to terms with it and accept myself as I am now.  Thanks to a local Alopecia UK meeting I found other people who had been through a similar experience and we could share our feelings, concerns about it and help each other emotionally and practically to find a way to live a happy and fulfilled lives looking very different to how we used to.

I have been involved with the charity over the last eighteen months helping others suffering with Alopecia in all it's forms.  Being able to raise awareness and provide help and support for adults and children dealing with the condition has been amazing and I am taking part in the Challenge to help the charity continue and enlarge the fantastic work they do.
