Story

Elaine Alexander was the swimming pool manager at Belfast Royal Academy for 11 years. She was a strong swimmer from a very young age and often took part in various swimathons with Larne Swimming Club.

During her time at BRA she nurtured and supported hundreds of children in their own swimming journeys. Her legacy is the enduring success of the school's swimming, waterpolo and lifesaving clubs to this day.

The swim will run for 24 hours, with every swimmer undertaking multiple half hour legs. Our aim is to get as many people involved as possible, whether it be present pupils or members of local aquatic clubs; all in the spirit of my mother's ethos that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn how to swim, and to excel in their chosen sport.

This swim is in aid of Northern Ireland Chest, Heart and Stroke, a charity that was very important to my mother as well as to the rest of my family.
