Story

After my success in the Edinburgh 10k race last year, I’ve decided to challenge myself with a half marathon. I’ll be running to raise funds for the Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, a small but vitally important charity. Pancreatic cancer is one on the most aggressive, yet little known, cancers. As my grandmother passed away due to pancreatic cancer, this cause and charity have immense personal significance.

The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are very similar to those of more innocuous diseases,  meaning diagnosis is often made at an advanced stage and survival rates and durations are very poor. However, there have been recent positive developments in research into treatment and early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and by running the Edinburgh Half Marathon for the Ralph Bates Fund I hope to be able to provide vital funds for further research and treatment developments.

My goal is to finish in under 2 hours, and your sponsorship will not only provide vital funds for pancreatic cancer research, but also the encouragement (and accountability!) to keep going!
