‘I am brave, I am confident, I have integrity, I am Team CLIC Sargent.’
When telling friends and family about my idea to run the London Marathon they’ve asked me ‘how many half marathons have you ran?’ Zero. ‘How many 10Ks?’ Zero. ‘Competitive running?’ None.
Committing to run the London Marathon from square one is certainly brave (some might say ridiculous). But no matter how scary this is for me, it pales in comparison to the 12 children and young people every day that have to hear they have cancer. For the 12 families that news devastates.
When cancer strikes young lives CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. CLIC Sargent provide specialist support, to help and guide each young cancer patient and their family. CS do this individually, locally and nationally, so that they can focus on the important things, like getting well. And if the worst happens, CS will work with bereaved families to get them support, to help them cope with their emotional pain.
