Story
Thank you very much for visiting my page today.
So I signed up for this beautiful race because in late January 2021, my family’s everyday life was unexpectedly turned upside down when we were told Mummy had pancreatic cancer.
Over half of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. In my mother’s case it was quicker, just 7 weeks. Survival rates are the same now as they were in the 1970s.
Following Mummy’s funeral in late March, I went back to Madrid and it was there where I used to go for runs after work to get a sense of release, followed by a voice note or two. I started thinking about the Royal Parks Half Marathon, and how special it would be to do it alongside my brothers Hugh and Francis (figuratively) and raise some decent money for our chosen cancer charities.
I hope in doing this we are keeping her memory alive, and manage to help these charities carry out more brilliant work for the thousands of families who lose a loved one each year to cancer.
All donations are hugely appreciated, be it pence or pounds, or simply by sharing my page.
