Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year, I watched thousands of people running 26.2 miles in the Hamburg Marathon for charities that they were passionate about supporting. I have never been the fastest runner but having experienced the atmosphere, the challenge and the achievement that those marathon runners encountered I realised that I wanted to do the same for a charity close to my heart.
Marie Curie provides nursing care to the terminally ill in their homes. My grandfather died peacefully at home, after a three year battle with prostate cancer, at the end of a normal family day surrounded by those he loved. This would not have been possible without the phenomenal support of Marie Curie Nurses. I know my grandfather was immeasurably comforted and reassured by the familiar routine of his family living their days about him, all in the sanctuary of his home.
Raising money by running the London Marathon 2018 is the way in which I would like to show my commitment to the remarkable people who make life better for patients with terminal illnesses and their families. It is a tremendous honour to be running for this amazing cause and to support the future work of the charity so that more life-changing care can be carried out.
