Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!
In January 2019 Libby and I are joining a challenging horseback ride in South Africa to raise funds for The Waterberg Trust which supports the vital work of Save the Waterberg Rhino along with local health, educational and welfare projects that uplift the community in the area. The trek is being led by Ant Baber owner of the Ant's Nest game reserve and the beautiful horses we will be riding!
We will be covering 200kms over six days through the private game reserves of the wild and wonderful Waterberg Biosphere. It is a beautiful natural region surrounded by mountains and bushveld with spectacular scenery and home to many different breeds of wildlife. It is also home to the third largest population of rhino in South Africa, so their protection on the plateau is vital.
Along the way we will be visiting the Waterberg Living Museum where we will meet Clive Walker, one of South Africa's leading conservationists. We will also be visiting the Lapalala Wilderness School which runs residential courses in nature conservation and environmental awareness for local children and the Lethabo Kids Club in the township of Leseding and meet Nurse Grace via a community sewing project!
