Our wonderful daughter Chloe was diagnosed as autistic when she was 16 last year. She was experiencing mental health difficulties and CAMHS suggested that she may be autistic. Receiving her diagnosis helped us to understand her better and enable us to support her needs more fully. More importantly, it empowered her to realise that she was neurodivergent and that many of her feelings were because of her autism.

It makes me sad to realise that us as parents and school had failed to
realise that she was autistic and struggling and that whether an earlier
diagnosis would have made a difference to her mental health and
wellbeing. This is why I am raising funds for Autistic Girls Network.
They are a registered charity working to support, educate, and bring
change. They state that "4 times as many boys are diagnosed autistic as girls. This is not an accurate picture and frequently, for many reasons,  girls are diagnosed later, missed or misdiagnosed, causing long term mental health
problems." Their aim is two-fold. "To campaign for better recognition and diagnosis of autistic girls and to support them in finding their identity and feeling understood."
