Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Most of you will know either Teddy or Evie, some of you may be fortunate enough to know both! but for those who know one or the other below is a little synopsis of both of us;
Teddy
so - finally I'm getting round to actually doing an official marathon! some of you will know that I'm an all or nothing kind of person when it comes to exercise and previously have undertaken some endurance running up to longer distances than a marathon, however, I have never actually done the actual 'bib wearing' event.
Living in London and having watched family and friends do it before I have been wanting to give it a go - Headway Surrey have helped make that a reality whilst also giving me the opportunity to help what is a truly great cause.
for those here who aren't aware, Headway Surrey supports adults over 18 in Surrey with acquired and traumatic brain injury, and their families - the work they undertake is vital to those in with brain injuries in the Surrey area and without willing fundraisers such as Evie and I doing events like the London Marathon an awful lot of people in need would be unable to access the support they require.
so, with the marathon on the 23rd April, and many cold mornings and evenings ahead please please please do reach as deep into you pockets as you possibly can and donate some money to this excellent cause, in exchange I will continue to do the cold wet miles and hopefully look forward to seeing a few of you on the side of the course in April!!
Evie
It's now less than 100 days till the marathon, so its about time we posted about it and got running!
I've always been into my fitness, but I've wanted to push myself to do something more extreme for a while. Over the next 3 months, I'll be putting myself through a brutal fitness regime to get race day fit, all in order to raise money for a remarkable charity called Headway Surrey.
Headway ensures that when a brain injury flips someone's world upside down, they and their families get the help and support they deserve any one can get a brain injury; it can be acquired or traumatic; it can be from a stroke, road accident, sports injury, trip, fall, encephalitis, hypoxia, tumour, bleed to the brain, an aneurysm, meningitis and other incidents.
As a charity they need to raise £250,000 each year to support their patients. On average they support 60 people each week with a variety of 1:1, group sessions, counselling, social drop-ins, a helpline and family/carers survival toolkit courses.
Headway is a small but powerful charity and relies on the generosity of others to enable them to provide vital care to brain injury survivors. Any donation, big or small is truly appreciated and goes a long way to support headway who change peoples lives.
