Story
My last haircut (number one sides and back, longer on top - classic) was right before the UK went into lockdown in March 2020. Since then, like all of us, my life has undergone a huge period of change.
However, one of the only things that has remained relatively constant during this time is the mop of blonde hair that has taken up residency on my bonce. Over the last two years, my follicles have flourished, and despite spending much of the first few months behind closed doors, those dear to me have still had the pleasure of seeing my do go through various iconic iterations. Starting at Brad Pitt in Fight Club and ending somewhere closer to Brad Pitt in Troy, but making several stops along the way at Sandi Toksvig, Clare Balding and, of course, our Lady Princess Diana.
Now, as the world has begun opening up, and as I prepare to embark on the road trip of a lifetime, it's time for this snake to finally shed his skin. And whilst they look absolutely ridiculous on me, someone has suggested that these locks could be used to help bring a bit of confidence and identity back to a child or young person who has lost their hair due to health conditions such as cancer.
So, this Saturday I'm planning to entirely shave my head and donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust (www.littleprincesses.org.uk), who specialise in providing free, real hair wigs to children that need them most. Naturally, being a professional fundraiser myself, I saw this as an opportunity to try and raise a bit of money to go alongside my hair donation and support a wonderful charity that relies entirely community fundraising.
All proceeds will go to the Little Princess Trust where whatever you can give will be both hugely appreciated, and will go a long way to supporting children and young people all over the UK - and don't forget to Gift Aid if you can!
Thanks to all for the support, I can't wait to throw my hairbrush in the bin.
Cheers,
Ed x
