Story
Restart has supported me every step of the way since my accident and have played a massive part in the reason I am lucky enough to now be independent and on two feet.
Since becoming a trustee I have been made aware of the real scale and importance of the work that they do to support our professional players in England. The thing that struck me most was the number of resources directed towards mental health support and how invaluable that had become in a profession of increasing pressures and a demographic vulnerable to the likes of depression.
This year has struck the charity sector hard and has left Restart in a position where drastic action needs to be taken in order to maintain vital elements such as the confidential counselling service. So along with two other trustees (Hask and Ugo) I have decided to try and do my bit by taking on an endurance challenge and trying to raise some money.
At midday on the 22nd of December, I am going to set off from my house in Bath and walk for 24hours non-stop in the direction of my wife's house in Bournemouth where we will be spending Christmas (if i don't go missing). How far I'll get I don't know but it will definitely be the longest I have ever walked in one go and is, without doubt, another one of those ideas I don't want my doctor to find out about
Any donations are massively appreciated but what I would love most is if you could come up with your own fun and crazy challenge, join our fundraising team and help us do some good this Christmas.
Either way, thank you and have a great Christmas!
Best
Ed
Oh and of course I'll be dragging Lois with me because she loves it..👀
