Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
What?
In June 2013, I shall be sharing a skiff with Richard Mullings and one other, and sculling from Lechlade which is the first point at which the Thames is consistently wide enough for this sort of boat, down to Tower Bridge (where there are no width restrictions). We aim to travel up to thirty miles a day, but it is intended to be a holiday and there are a lot of river-side hostelries so the journey of some 140 miles is expected to take six to seven days.
Why?
The river is there.
I have a sculling companion.
We have a boat.
We can.
Others are not so fortunate. It is in appreciation of this that we felt that we should use the opportunity positively. Farlie would have entered into this venture with his usual enthusiam if he had had the opportunity. Instead, he will be with me in spirit and if we can raise funds which ultimatley make a difference to the life of someone else, it will be a job well done.
The Charity
Brain Tumour Research was selected by Clare in memory of Farlie. "RESEARCH GETS RESULTS... it's the only way forward to find a cure for brain tumours. " "Currently neuro-oncology research teams across the UK are reliant upon brain tumour charity funding to support their work."
With your support, we can make a small difference. And if the blisters on my blisters cause me discomfort, I'll recall Farlie and the Misfitz and "Always look on the Bright Side of Life..." followed by "Bring me Sunshine."
Thank you,
