Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Most people visiting this page will know why I'm cycling for a cancer charity but for those who don't then please have a read.
My family has been affected by Cancer over the last few years. Firstly we found that my uncle had a serious skin cancer, as you can imagine this was a big shock to everyone and the initial outlook from doctors was very worrying. Thankfully after a couple of operations and tests my uncle is clear and in good health.
Unfortunatly about half way through my uncles treatment my dad found a small lump under his arm, test showed that it was a lymphoma and was promptly removed, everyone had there fingers crossed but got the bad news that there was another lump near his lung. The second lump is in a position that makes it impossible to remove. The good news was that it is not an aggressive cancer and is relatively slow growing. Finding out news like this is obviously devastating and also make you feel helpless. It's been a few of years now since we found out and dads in great shape and very healthy, he looks after himself which we all hope will hold the cancer at bay.
I had done a charity ride before and enjoy cycling so when I found out about ride 100 I new I wanted to take part and ride for a cancer charity. I feel this is my chance to turn a very negative and helpless situation into a positive and my chance to try and help people in a similar situation to my relatives.
