Story
Every 2 years Investec's Cheltenham office chooses a locally based charity to support, but due to the pandemic we had to postpone the challenge (originally planned for 2020) until this summer. We will be walking the length of the Wysis Way in Gloucestershire between 9th-12th June in aid of our chosen charity, Suicide Crisis. It is a distance of 52 miles, starting at Chepstow in the south west of the county and finishing in Kemble, near Cirencester.
Our choice of Suicide Crisis is especially apposite given the epidemic in Mental Health issues that have exploded in recent years, reaching a crescendo during the COVID pandemic, especially amongst the young, which is just so tragic. I have known numerous people over my lifetime who have taken their own lives, including some very close family members and a number of good friends, all of whom would have benefitted from the wonderful work of this charity had they been aware of it.
Suicide Crisis works nationally and locally to prevent suicide and also runs an award-winning Suicide Crisis Centre in Gloucestershire, open 24 hours a day for people at high risk of suicide. It offers a safe place where people are supported and helped through their crisis. There is a team of dedicated, caring, well-trained people who really want to help. The charity also run a Trauma Centre offering a range of support for people experiencing PTSD.
If you felt you could contribute towards this incredibly vital cause in support of our efforts, we would be very grateful indeed.
