Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page where I am running the 10 miles run in Portsmouth in October trying to raise money for the TSA patient support group to aid awareness into Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, or TSC.
The Tuberous Sclerosis Association, or TSA do a fantastic job to raise awareness of this rare condition and drive research as well as improving the care of people with TSC. Please visit them here to learn a little more: http://www.tuberous-sclerosis.org/
This year I have been employed by a major pharmaceutical company as the UK National Business Manager and commercial lead for the TSC indication and over this time I have learned more and more about this potentially debilitating condition affecting far too many families and carers.
Tuberous Sclerosis is a rare genetic disorder affecting around 1 in 10,000 people in the UK and mutations in the TSC1 or TSC2 genes can affect people very differently but can lead to non-malignant tumours growing almost anywhere such as many major organs in the the body from the brain, heart, kidneys, lungs, eyes, liver and even the skin.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. If you dig a little or a lot, once you do donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
October will be TSC awareness month so thanks for taking the time to read my page and wish me luck in finishing the Great South Run 2011 on October 30th.
