Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I got this "paddling pool" as my 40th present as I love the water. This is getting myself and the kids through lockdown. My husband (Scott) bolted a handrail to the wall and I use a belt with resistance band that connects me to the wall so I can swim practically stationery. The aim is to swim 5 miles which is around 2700 laps of my 10ft pool. My friend (Ruth Fraser) used to work at Edinburgh Zoo and I have been keeping up with the webcams a lot to see how the animals are getting on. The main part about all of this is that they rely on contributions from the public so with the zoo being closed although the animals may be loving the peace and quiet they are not receiving these donations. They are not government funded and these lovely animals need to be fed. It is fascinating watching them, we have seen the Rockhopper Penguins have their chicks, Tanami (Koala) have little run around sessions some mornings and jumping from branch to branch, the lovely pride of lions and of course Yang Guang (beautiful giant panda) who is my personal favourite and the main reason for me doing this challenge, he eats 20 kilograms of bamboo a day, it costs £55 just for 1 lunch for him! He is just lovely to watch and makes the kids and I smile a lot. There are so many animals there to keep feeding and with your help you could keep them going through these strange and hard times. Am hoping to get a live feed running so you can watch me swimming in my large bathtub. I am doing the swim on Friday 22nd May at 10am thinking it will take me 2 and a half hours so please log on, have a watch, spread the word and donate if you can.
Scott will hopefully be running the live feed so please send your support comments as the swim goes on as he will let me know each mile that goes by.
Many Thanks x
