Story
Thanks for taking the time to look at my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 29th May I will be running the now Virtual Edinburgh Marathon raising money for the Three Bears Foundation in memory of my friend’s mum Jane Burn.
As one who always likes a challenge, I didn’t just fancy the single marathon... I will be aiming to run the equivalent of a marathon a day for 7 days, with my final run being the now Virtual Edinburgh Marathon. Due to teaching at school during this period, between Monday and Friday I will be running half a marathon in the morning, before lessons start, and half a marathon after school, once lessons have finished. My aim being to complete every marathon within 4 hours.
Set up in loving memory of Jane Burn, the Three Bears Foundation received its name from Jane’s nickname for her son “Chrissy Bear”. With the Burn family affectionately known as “The Three Bears” Jane tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2017. Since then, countless others have joined Mark and Chris in raising awareness of one of the most under-diagnosed and least understood of cancers – pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic cancer has been left behind. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers. Sadly, for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within three months. But there is hope. With your support, our actions today can transform the future for people affected by pancreatic cancer. Together, we’ll take it on.
