The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

We hope to raise much needed funds for SiMBA by taking part in the 2.6 challenge. SiMBA, responds to the needs of those affected by the loss of a baby. They do this by donating their precious Memory Boxes to maternity and neonatal units so they can be gifted to parents at the time of the loss of their baby. The Memory Boxes are used to capture the most precious memories, time together, for information visit https://www.simbacharity.org.uk.

As a family, we have been personally affected by the loss of our son Noah, who was stillborn in 2008, Fran’s sister started working for SiMBA in May 2019 as their Office Manager, and in March 2020, Fran took on a voluntary role with the charity as a Facilitator for their Support Groups.

On Sunday 26 April the London Marathon should have taken place which is one of the worlds biggest fundraising events for smaller charities.

26 miles is obviously a marathon distance so together with our friends at the triathlon club, we are going to 'attempt' to break the “unofficial” marathon world record of 1hr 59:40 by breaking the run down into 200m sections (211 x200m). Some members have agreed to do multiple sections, but our target pace needs to be just slightly faster than Kipchoge's unofficial WR pace. An almost certainly impossible task but we will have fun trying 😂

Any donations would be greatly appreciated. The individuals runs will be recorded and a video made.

The other services SiMBA provide are support groups, online support, events that bring families together to honour their baby; educational study days to support healthcare professionals.

Many thanks for your support
