Event: Walk for Syria, on 23 June 2018
Participants: Robert Aplin, Charlie Bates, Barry Gamble and Jonathan Williams
After 7 years of fighting in Syria, homes, streets and schools are littered with landmines and explosives. Innocent families and children are living in constant danger and desperately need your help.

Story

We’re off walking again. This time for Halo and in memory of Tim Cherry with whom we walked for 20 years. The mine clearing charity Halo, made famous by the late Princess Diana and now supported by Prince Harry, is  holding a 30th anniversary fund raising walk on Saturday 23 June 2018 in aid of their activities in Syria. The four of us have entered as a team to walk the 30 km circuit in Dumfrieshire.

Some of you may remember us when we were at Edgehill with Clare Balding for the June 2015 BBC Ramblings Programme ; in the picture with us all and her producer Lucy. This was our last walk with Tim before he became terminally ill. Together with Jonathan he had been an active member of the Halo medical support team in various places around the world.

We are delighted to have this opportunity to support Halo in Tim’s memory This will be a one off fundraiser but one which we feel will resonate with those of you who knew Tim whether you were a colleague, patient or friend.
