Hello All,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm here to raise money for an invisible illness called EDS (Ehlers Danos Syndrome). Unfortunately My Mum, suffers with this illness.
Myself with support of friends are embarking on a 45 mile cycle ride from Chester City Centre to Llandudno on 26th August 2017.
An insight to the invisible disability:
Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a rare condition affecting only around 1 in 5000 people which leaves it a very misunderstood and under funded condition.
It's complications include joint dislocations and chronic pain as well as early onset arthritis. Imagine how debilitating this can be in middle age. Scared to make any major movements for fear of the pain of dislocation and the rigmarole of regular attendances to a and e for imaging and relocation.
We all know how horrible it can be sitting waiting for hours in A&E. Imagine that on a regular basis. And If thats not bad enough the osteoarthritis (o/a) is like prematurely ageing, slowing you down to a pensioners pace and riddled with pain and discomfort, imagine that in your mid 30's and 40's, horrendous limitations to your life.
On top of all this you don't know about people who have EDS, theres no outward signs and unless they wore a badge you'd never know. (Invisible illness)
Thats why I've chose this charity. To help people all round the world like my mum who suffer in silence. With this money funding into research and understanding can be achieved paving the way for eds's future and potential treatment and care management so the next generation of suffers can have a brighter future.
This is why weve chosen to do a bike ride to raise awareness and funds and show ourselves how greatful we are to be unhindered and unaffected and lucky to have the mobility we do, something we take for granted whilst others battle all their lives
