I think 2020 made us all realise that we take too much for granted and having acquired himself a road bike and upped his fitness game, Ed decided a real challenge was needed for 2021 which he could rope the 2 Matts in to, to share in the pain!
Having heard about the Doddie'5 ride challenge through Mike Teague (yes, the former Gloucester, England and British Lion rugby legend, no less), Ed sold the idea to the 2 Matts and then made the team decision that there was no point travelling all the way up to the Scottish borders to attempt anything less than the full 93 mile 'Big Yin'! And so, with more trepidation than bravado, the challenge was accepted...
My Name5 Doddie Foundation was established in November 2017 by Doddie Weir and close friends and supporters. Doddie was diagnosed with motor neuron disease in December 2016 and is committed to help find a cure for MND and support fellow sufferers.The response to the launch of the Foundation has been incredible with thousands of people offering their help and support in a variety of innovative and enterprising ways. The Foundation has raised more than £7 million in three years and already committed £4.5 million to research projects and in grants to support patients
