I completed the event in 2 hours, 18 minutes, some 20 minutes faster than last year. My provisional finishing positon is 184th, an improvement of some 50 places compared to last year. Many thanks for your support.

I am raising money to help look after children in hospital. Acorns Hospice is doing a wonderful job looking after children who need special care, which is why I am aiming to complete the 2009 Tough Guy event on 26 July.
Tough Guy is organised by a man who is even more insane than those who take part, so don’t expect much of the web site content to make sense. It is impossible to train properly for an event that involves running through fire, crawling through concrete sewage pipes, dodging 12 foot high stinging nettles, and swimming across a lake of horse pee.
If you want to know more about Tough Guy, here is a link to the web site: http://toughguy.co.uk/?q=node/115.
Suffice it to say that the torture of training has been immense, and made bearable mainly by the sterling support I have had at Kenilworth Rugby Club, in the form of several pints of beer and various bags of corn based snacks. So why me? Two years ago I was told it was a mid life crisis, the diagnosis has since been downgraded to bloody mindedness. Either way its for an excellent cause - Acorns Hospice. Please give generously, particularly if you said you would do the event with me, and subsequently backed out. You know who you are. Seriously, it is more fun than it looks.
