Story
In February 2012 we tragically lost one our best friends Paul Burke and his one year old son George - in the space of 5 days. George died of a fit, which was brought on by influenza and bronchial pneumonia that had gone undetected. Paul suffered from a post traumatic stress disorder that had also gone undetected and sadly jumped to his death.
Paul's wife Rhian has bravely set up a charity - 2wishuponastar with the aim of raising money to improve and create better bereavement services in the area and eventually further afield. Emphasis will be on the immediate shock and trauma support required after losing a child so suddenly. Special focus will be on the support the ‘Daddy’ receives after such a traumatic experience.
The Cycle ride at the end of May will travel from Miskin, Cardiff where the family live; to Queens College, Taunton where I went to school with Paul.
As a keen cyclist myself i was eager to get involved and have convinced my wingwoman Lorraine (aka Chris Froome) to join us!!
Training is going well, although we desperately need some nicer weather to get some serious training miles done over the next two months!
Please support this excellent cause, however big or small. Over 170 people have signed up for the ride so we hope to all make a big contribution to 2wishuponastar.
Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
We will keep you updated!
