We help blind children and young people to live their lives without limits

Story

Ed and Ben are going to be running the Cambridge half-marathon blindfold - they'll take turns, with one leading the other using a tether, like the actual athletes who are visually impaired use. They're doing this to raise some money for RSBC, who support kids like Lennie.

Ed's son Lennie is 10 (11 in April). He is cheeky, loving and - in the words of his drumming teacher - a "ridiculous" musician. He is also completely blind, as a result of a tumour which crushed his optic nerves when he was 10 months old. The life-saving treatment he received (#ThankYouNHS) also left him with a number of ongoing health and behavioural challenges.

Since 2015, Lennie has attended his local mainstream primary school, with lots of amazing support from a brilliant team of school staff and specialists. In September, he's moving on to a specialist school for the visually impaired. It's going to be an exciting new chapter, but one which he and his family will not be able to manage successfully without a lot of help.

This is where RSBC comes in - for Lennie, and for thousands of other children like him. One of RSBC's specialist family support workers is to helping Lennie and his family to make this momentous transition as smooth as possible. Their work makes an incredible difference to thousands of children and families - if you can, please click on give now to support this brilliant organisation.
