Story

Thanks for your support with my London Marathon challenge! Training with Suzy has begun in earnest.

I am raising money for the RNIB in memory of my granddad, Lewis Johnson, who died recently in October aged 94.

Grandad suffered from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in the last 20 years of his life. It is a very common condition in older people (4.8% in people aged 65 years and over and 12.2% in people aged 80 years and over) but many are now benefitting from wonderful treatments which are saving their sight.

The RNIB supports the blind and partially sighted in many ways. They advise on assistive aids, support with access to education and to employment for those with sight loss and support with home adaptations to enable clients to retain their independence amongst other things. My Grandad was always using the latest audio or visual gadgets, coupling his love for technology with improving his quality of life.

If you wish to support me and this worthwhile cause, I would be delighted.

Cheers, Ed
