Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
25th September 2007. The Teams DID IT !!!
The 2 ECT teams successfully completed the 3 Peaks Challenge within 24 hours on 22nd and 23rd September. For most this was one of the hardest physical challenges they'd ever undertaken. You can view a few pictures of the event by clicking here.
Thanks for all your support and SEE YOU ALL AGAIN next year! Together we've helped approximately 160 people get onto the Anthony Nolan Trust register to find a bone marrow match which saves lives.
The following is a text we received from the Mountain and Glen Logistics Manager (Steve Ogden) on our way home yesterday: "I keep re-writing this txt to suit what I want to say, but it just boils down to ........ thank you all so much. A really fantastic team. Lucky ECT! Safe journey."
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page! LAST WEEKEND (22nd and 23rd September), 11 dedicated adventurers from ECT partook in the 3 Peaks Challenge (officially recognised as the toughest mountain climbing challenge in the UK) to raise much needed funds for The Anthony Nolan Trust and their work fighting Leukaemia.
The team members were:
* Ben Saunders
* Dominic Murtagh
* Doug Teesdale
* Jono Sharkey
* Mark Robinson
* Matt Brookes
* Rebecca Sears
* Rhoni Morgan
* Steve Thorne
* Tania Lillywhite
* Andy Young
The Anthony Nolan Trust is an independent charity and as such relies on financial support from individuals and companies to help take back lives from leukaemia. Currently there are over 7000 children and adults awaiting a bone marrow transplant and we aim to do what we can to help reduce this number! The Anthony Nolan bone marrow register has helped give a chance of life to over 4,000 people since 1974. It is the most successful bone marrow register in the UK and the third largest register in the world
The challenge we've undertaken which we're asking you to empty your pockets for is the renowned 3 Peaks Challenge - scaling the 3 highest peaks in the UK within 24 hours! They're Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. Scafell Pike will be a night ascent and we should reach the summit at daybreak. This is no mean feat! The 11 of us our doing our bit in sweat equity - now we'd ask you to do yours with your wallets
We have committed to raise a minimum of £9000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust - but we'd love to raise much more. Help us achieve that. No matter how large or small, please make a donation! Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Anthony Nolan Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you
