Story
This year we have a very specific fundraising target in mind. The charity is raising £45k for a patient transport minibus. The minibus is needed to take Macclesfield Hospital patients home when they no longer require hospital care but may not be able to get home easily themselves, often due to the availability of family and friends and other transport and mobility issues.
As with many other hospitals, Macclesfield has experienced very busy periods in recent years and at peak times has faced challenges finding enough beds for all patients who need them. Last year, East Cheshire NHS Trust which runs the hospital launched a campaign called ‘HelpingFlo’ which aimed to raise awareness of how members of the public and staff can help free up hospital beds via a fictitious patient called Flo.
Building on the success of this campaign, the trust’s charity ECHO is now aiming to raise £45,000 for a wheelchair-accessible minibus which will help return patients like Flo, many of whom may be elderly and reliant on public transport, to return home once they no longer need a hospital bed.
If teams would like to circulate the justgiving link to this page and ask colleagues , friends and family to sponsor their participation that would be great. All proceeds will go toward the minibus.
