Story
I need your help!
I’ll be taking part in the Run Alton Towers half marathon (that’s 21 and a bit kilometres) in November, aiming to raise £250 towards Lymphoma Action on behalf of my friend, Sophie.
Sophie's story:
Back in 2020 Sophie experienced symptoms such as vertigo, fatigue and lost 3 stone in weight quite drastically. Doctors noticed the lymph node in her neck was quite enlarges and decided to run tests.
Unfortunately, they found traces of Lymphoma. At 27, Sophie was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s. She had further scans, which revealed that the cancer had spread to her bone marrow, she was now at stage 4.
Despite this news, Sophie had age on her side to kick arse!
Who are Lymphoma Action?
Sophie chose to have treatment at her local hospital, where Lymphoma Action provided booklets and information on the disease itself. They hold a forum page that allows people to ask questions and is a space for anyone with the same cancer to share their story and journey so far.
Lymphoma Action has been fantastic for Sophie and her family, Lymphoma isn’t a cancer people are acutely aware of. For patients, family and partners who find it hard to cope with the disease, they also facilitate councillors and nurses who can help with any concerns and questions.
Sophie has been strong throughout her treatment. Currently, 3 out of her 5 tumours have disappeared, within 4 treatments out of 12. She’s now down to just 2 chemo sessions and is feeling stronger every day.
So, if you’d like to support Lymphoma Action with me, please donate any amount you can.
Thank you!
