Story
We have now completed our challenge and children and staff at our 24 schools have 'ran around the world'.
During the 31 days of May we walked, ran, cycled or wheeled 44,000+km, which allowed us to 'travel' across our planet. We trekked through Europe to Athens, New Delhi, China, Australia, the Galapogas Islands and Panama. One day, perhaps, some of the impressionable young minds who took part in their loops and circuits around their homes in the north of England, might get to do this for real...
The object of the exercise was to keep fit physically and mentally during the anxieties of the coronavirus covid-19 lockdown. We set up this page just in case anyone wanted to sponsor us. Knowing the lockdown made money very tight for some of our families, donating to NHS charities was always just an option and never compulsory.
But thanks to some generous human spirit and in particular the determined efforts of five-year-old Annie from Sigglesthorne Church of England Primary Academy, one of our smaller schools, our target of £750 swelled to an impressive £3,850 at the end of the challenge!
We're keeping the JustGiving page open as we're about to inform the media and so more donations might come in.
But thanks everyone – you were amazing!
NHS staff and volunteers are doing amazing work right now in caring for COVID-19 patients.Together, let's show our respect and gratitude as they work tirelessly in the face of the virus. It's our turn to make sure we look after them, to ensure they can keep doing their vital work.
