Story
I'm Eavan, and in November 2022 my husband Rónán was diagnosed with colorectal (bowel) cancer. To say it was a shock was an understatement. I was experiencing the hospital from the perspective of a family member, rather than my usual role as a doctor. In a moment of gratitude, or maybe it was madness, I signed up for my first half marathon to pay a little back. I’m very grateful to all the staff for the care and attention they showed to Rónán and I. The half marathon is in April, which also happens to be bowel cancer awareness month.
I’m Orla and I am trotting along to keep Eavan company. We don’t usually get to run together as we live in different cities. So this is a great chance for me to show solidarity with Eavan and Rónán and support a great cause.
I'm Tríona and I'll be joining my cousins Eavan and Orla for my very first half marathon. I'm a little nervous - this is the furthest I've ever run and it was a spur of the moment decision. We don't get to meet up often so I'm looking forward to catching up while supporting a good cause.
We'd be very grateful for any donation you can afford.
