We are here for every cat to keep them happy, healthy and safe.

Story

Meet Pedro, a very badly injured cat found far from his original home, with horrific wounds. He has not only shown himself to be a little fighter but a very sweet boy indeed.

It was clear he needed urgent medical attention after he was found in North Harbour Eastbourne. One of his back legs was very badly hurt and he was in lots of pain. After being seen by the vet it was decided that due to the severity of his injuries the best course of action would be to amputate his leg.

Pedro has the sweetest nature, especially when you consider how severe his injury is. He is so affectionate it melts your heart.

We found he does have a microchip that was implanted by a vet in Southampton but this was not registered, so we have no owner contact details. We don’t know how Pedro came to be so far from his original home, or what he has been through since, but we are doing all we can to give him the best chance of a happy and healthy life from now on.

Pedro is now making wonderful progress and will have his stiches out soon but he still has a long road ahead and he is not ready to be homed just yet. He is taking small steps, which we are encouraging every day, to build up his muscles and help with his balance and mobility.

We are hopeful that with good veterinary care, and lots of love, he will be set up to lead a full and happy life.

Everyone who meets him falls under his spell, he really has stolen our hearts with his gentle and affectionate personality.

Sadly, Pedro is a prime example of the kind of emergencies which come to us here at Eastbourne Cats Protection.

The last couple of years has been difficult for us all, as the world starts to open up again, we will see cats who are ill, having missed vaccinations, litters of tiny kittens whose young parents haven't been neutered and much more.

Sadly, many people are struggling for financial, physical or mental health reasons due to the pandemic and as a result we will see many cats whose owners will come to us heartbroken, because they can no longer care for their beloved cat.

Cats Protection will always be here for the cats but now we need your help.

Please will you help the cats and kittens who come through our doors by donating what you can and helping to fund Pedro’s treatment?

From everyone at the centre we thank you for your continued support, we couldn't help so many local cats without you and we are all so grateful.

Any donations over the cost of Pedro's treatment will go towards other cats in our care here at Eastbourne Cats Protection.
