Story
I have decided to try to raise some much needed money for Macmillan Cancer support.
My sister, Gwen, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer at only 42 (above in the picture - she looks nothing like she did 6 months ago, but that’s the reality of cancer and she’s hoping it’s only temporary. She has bravely agreed to me putting our picture up). Following some major surgery, she’s now going through really harsh chemotherapy. Macmillan have supported her every step of the way, as I know they have for many, many other families like mine.
So, what can a professional Pub Manager and self-proclaimed beer connoisseur do to raise some much needed cash? Give up alcohol for a whole year, of course!
My ‘one Year no Beer’ challenge to myself was the toughest thing I could think of for me personally, especially spending most of my days in my pub, but if Gwen can get through chemo, I can get through this - hopefully healthier for it too.
I plan to update you all with my progress as I go along, but if you could spare anything at all for this amazing cause, me and thousands of others who have been in contact with Macmillan and realised just how invaluable they are will be very, very grateful.
Thank you, and cheers 🍻
