I turn 18 in January and want to do something to mark the occasion to help other premature babies. I was born 6weeks early and was very ill, I had to fight for survival. I required neonatal intensive care where I was placed on a ventilator to breathe for me, I had to have a chest drain inserted into my lung as I had pneumothorax, I had syringe drivers attached to me with pain relief and sedation, I had to have TPN drips everyday as I was unable to feed at all and for these I required daily blood tests so the tpn drips could be made to my exact requirements. I also had to have cpap to help my breathing and phototherapy because of dangerous levels of jaundice. I was in an incubator and my mum and dad were unable to hold me for almost a week. After being on life support I was able to be moved to a side room and then to the mother and baby room before being allowed home. As I was unable to feed my mum borrowed a hospital grade breast pump from tinylife so she could give me the best possible start in life and so that it reduced the time she needed to be away from me pumping. Tinylife offers so many things to premature babies and their families and their family support workers provide a great support at really worrying times for parents. As a family we have fundraised before for Tinylife and for the neonatal unit where fought for survival. I turn 18 years old in January and what better way to mark that occasion than remembering my difficult start to life and what I overcame and also making a difference and helping Tinylife to help other premature babies and their families. So please help me to help them, anything you can give big or small will make a huge difference. Thank you.
