Story
The Greenwich and Bexley hospice gave my dad very important end of life treatment and care so he could be surrounded by family in his final months, and for that reason they hold a very special place in my heart.
This year, I am once again running in the mini-marathon for Greenwich and Bexley Hospice, in memory of my amazing dad. He would always play football with me, take me to the park, and would never let me get bored. Whatever I was interested in he would always try to be involved so he could spend more time with me. He was truly the greatest dad someone could ever ask for.
On March 1st, 2020, he passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 46, from Cholangiocarcinoma (also known as Bile duct cancer). He passed away surrounded by family. This wouldn't have been possible without the hospice. They provided a hospital bed and regular home check-ups to make sure he was comfortable. They also supported my mum too. I will always be grateful for the hospice's service, and for that reason, they hold a very special place in my heart.
My dad loved a marathon, as he ran 2 London marathons. He would be looking down on me now with a smile on his face knowing I'd be running, in memory of him.
This year it is the 10th anniversary of the mini marathon so Im going to be running to beat my personal best!
Thank you for taking the time to read my story
