Story
Ddeng mlynedd yn ol i fis Tachwedd eleni collais fy nhad, John Arfon Huws i gancr y prostad. Collwyd tad, gwr, taid, a thad yng nghyfraith hoffus ag annwyl. Roedd ei wreiddiau yn ddyfn ym Mhen-Llyn a gweithiodd dros ei bobol a'i ddiwylliant drwy gydol ei oes. Pen-Llyn oedd ei gartref a'i ysbrydoliaeth.
Rwyf hefyd yn adnabod sawl un sydd wedi wynebu cancr y prostad a felly addas, ddegawd ar ol ei golli, yw dathlu bywyd fy nhad a chodi arian ac ymwybyddiaeth drwy redeg arfordir a llwybrau penrhyn Llyn. Yn wreiddiol y syniad oedd rhedeg Ras Ultra Gaeaf Pen-Llyn 2020 ond gohuriwyd oherwydd Covid. Ond mae criw ohonom am ddal i redeg y cwrs 37 milltir (piti wastio'r holl amser paratoi).
Allai ond meddwl amdano'r dweud yn dawel a gyda gwen, "Ti'n siwr dy fod hyn yn syniad da dwad?"
Ten years have passed since I lost my father, John Arfon Huws to prostate cancer. We as a family lost a much loved father, husband, grandfather and father-in-law. His roots were firmly in Pen-Llyn and throughout his life he worked for it's people and culture. Pen-Llyn was his life and inspiration.
I also know of many others who have suffered with prostate cancer and my intention is to run the coast and paths of Pen-Llyn to raise awareness and funds. Originally this was to be part of the Pen-LLyn Ultra Marathon 2020, but the race was cancelled because of Covid. But a small group of us still intend running the 37 mile course (it would be a shame to waste all the time spent preparing).
I imagine what his response might have been. A quiet smile and "Are you sure you're doing the right thing?"
