Story

About WPA: - WPA is the nations first organization for women impacted by incarceration. - The number of women in state prison in the U.S. has increased by 834% over the last four decades. That is more than twice the rate of increase that men experienced. - WPAs alternative to incarceration program allows women to avoid prison or jail. Instead they address the challenges that led to their arrest in the community. It costs New York City $550K to incarcerate someone for one year. For the same amount, WPA can provide 94 women with safer, less costly alternatives to incarceration that includes comprehensive case management, safe and stable housing, and employment assistance supports.
