Story
This Easter weekend myself and Joe Petersen are competing in the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race. This is a 125 mile non-stop event beginning in Devizes and finishing under Westminster bridge in central London. I have been mates with Joe for over a decade now, after we met at Banbury and District Canoe Club around 2012, and as such I'm very glad to have him with me on this challenge.
But whilst Joe and I are doing this for the challenge, we are also doing this in memory of James Smythe, a legend in the world of marathon canoeing, who had raced the DW multiple times himself. James passed away after a short battle with cancer on Easter Monday last year, and as such it seemed obvious to add a charitable element to our challenge by asking for donations to Sarcoma UK, so we can raise money for this great cause in his name.
Please consider donating to this great cause if you can!
Thanks to Kat and Dan for setting up this team and letting us join.
