“Sepsis is a life-threatening illness caused by your body’s response to an infection. Sepsis develops when the chemicals the immune system releases into the bloodstream to fight an infection cause inflammation throughout the entire body instead.
Severe cases of sepsis can lead to septic shock, which is a medical emergency.”
We are raising as much money as possible for the UK Sepsis Trust, in Memory of a much loved colleague and friend, Duval Oakley, who sadly lost the fight with Sepsis in April. If there is anything positive that can be said of something so tragic, it is that we have all gained an awareness of what Sepsis is and can do and the speed in which it manifests itself into something so devastating.
The Sepsis Trust is a charity run by a small executive body of full-time clinicians and nurses that lead the Trust’s operational centre and work hand in hand with a network of volunteers. Their aim is to reach out
and bring together those who have survived, been bereaved by, or encountered sepsis in every imaginable circumstance.
For more awareness information about sepsis you can visit The UK Sepsis Trust at www.sepsistrust.org
Additionally, Lord Ashcroft has pledged to match all donations to the Sepsis trust pound for pound up to a total of £250,000. We have already raised £1,210,, please help us get to £1,500 and a total donation of £3,000 to the Sepsis Trust!
