Story
I've always said one day I'll do the London Marathon but never actually done anything towards it... Well, thanks to a night out on the Mojitos with a marathon running friend of mine and thanks to the The Sussex Beacon who have blessed me with a fund rasing place, I'll be going from fat greedy dad to marathon with the training starting around new year... I must be mad... OH, and somehow I've managed to sign up to the Brighton Half Marathon in Feb... Definitely something wrong with me!
As I said, I have the pleasure to run on behalf of The Sussex Beacon who supports people in Sussex who are living with HIV. Changes in medication now mean that an HIV diagnosis is no longer the issue it once was, however for the most vulnerable, its a constant challenge. Living with HIV you are much more likely to develop secondary conditions like diabetes, dementia, cardiovascular disease or kidney disease. Many of their patients need social care and help with their day to day lives as well as increasingly mental health support. A lot of their patients are also aging with HIV and are increasing frail and more prone to other infections. They are also more likely to be living alone or isolated and prone to depression and poor mental health.
With your help, I will be raising £1,500 for them, so please give generously. Feel free to offer funny ideas for me to do with your donations. EG, one was suggested was that I run in character as Hulk Hogan - lol. If I hit my target I'll put the ideas out to a vote on socials (as long as the idea isn't likely to kill me or my run, it'll go out to the vote).
