Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As a local Football Club, we want to give something back to the community during this very tough time! COVID-19 has hit so many people hard, some financially, some mentally and others emotionally through the tragic loss of so many lives.

As a Club that thrives on social interaction through training, match-days and socials that follow, lock down has hit us all hard, we know we have people struggling in our community too.

The GL11 community hub is supporting so many people in need within our local villages and towns, food banks and much more, with this in mind, what can we do to get through this, not only to help keep us going, but to help others in real need.

Following the government’s announcement of further lockdown, all club members have been challenged by the men’s 1st team manager Karl Nash to run/walk or cycle a combined club total of 1,000 miles a week, more than 5 marathons a day with an aim to raise money, giving us a reason to focus on getting through this and pushing ourselves on our daily exercise, all this whilst thinking of those that are suffering and those who are in need of support in our local community.

All donations will all be so gratefully received by the GL11 Community Hub who will lose around £60,000 this year whilst being closed, thank you for your support.

GL11 Community Hub (GL11) is a vibrant, local community project in Gloucestershire. Our services are inclusive and accessible, we design programmes that are universal and targeted, responding to community need and social issues, we support people locally who need it most. People who have experienced discrimination, are lonely or socially isolated, lack family support, are dealing with trauma and anxiety, or have short or long-term difficulties in life. Established in 2001 GL11 has built up a strong track record in four key strands of community focused work: • Improving health through well-being activities for vulnerable people of all ages. • Increasing trust and belonging by mixing social groups, generations and abilities. • Social impact with supportive, progressive and empowering volunteering opportunities. • Personal development through skills improvement, employability and entry-level training/education.
