Story
We are hugely excited to share with you details of our very first whole-school challenge this year: Play your Part. As a school we have already made a huge commitment to reduce the impact we are having on our environment with a specific focus on investing in sustainable energy supplies (PV panels on our new sports hall), Reducing energy use (whole school move to LED lighting for 2021/2) and recycling. We need your help too!!! As part of the challenge we need to go even further, even greener!!! That’s where you can play your part.
We are asking for parents/carers/family members to donate money (sponsor their son/daughter) in completing as many kms as possible of our Play Your Part challenge. The ideas is that we, as a school, are trying to complete 15,000km (or 21 million steps) which is the equivalent of crossing the world!. The money raised will be used in two very important ways:
a. We want to support the school in becoming even more eco-friendly. We want/need to invest in things such as more recycling bins (reducing waste), increasing the number of water fountains (to reduce plastic bottle use) and we need your support to do so.
b. In addition we are intending to donate half of all the money made to carbon capture schemes (for example the Woodland Trust tree planting scheme) to help us further in reaching Carbon zero operation.
We’d love it too if you want to leave a message of support for your linked child (or the whole school). Please do follow the challenge on our social media – we hope to provide regular updates on how far we have travelled each day.
Here’s to an amazing week, kick starting a real change and making everyone’s future that little bit brighter!
