Hello Everyone!
I will be running the London Marathon 2021 in October and this is my fundraising page. Please do read on!
Making the decision about which charity to support was very easy. My incredible grandmother Theresa Biddlecombe (Omi to us, her grandchildren), spent the last week of her life at The Martlets hospice in Hove, Sussex in June 2020. Martlets is an outstanding hospice, providing care for the terminally ill day and night. Omi was moved there from hospital at the end of June 2020. All the staff at the Hospice were incredibly caring, gentle and respectful to my grandmother, ensuring her comfort was paramount at all times. This all happened in the midst of a global pandemic and the staff went out of their way to make sure our family could spend time with Omi, where possible, given the strict rules in place at the time.
My aunt Bianca spent the last few days and nights with Omi and she told us all about the fantastic, kind and loving care that was given to Omi. She said it really touched her.
Times have been extremely tough for the hospice during the last year and all fundraising activities were cancelled and their charity shops closed. The hospice is almost entirely dependent on the generosity of local people, so the last year has been a significant challenge for them. I want to say thank you to them and let them know how grateful we are to them for all they did for my grandmother and for all they continue to do for so many people.
I enjoy running, however the furthest I have ever run is 10k and neither have I trained for any long distance running before. I made the decision that I want to run the Marathon and at the same time raise funds for the charity. There is no better time to start a new challenge than now. I am prepared for a tough few months of training ahead, gearing up to the event which entails running 26.3 miles through London. I am excited and looking forward to this challenge.
I would be so grateful for any help you can give, thank you so much in advance for your generosity. I really appreciate it.
Keep an eye on the page for my training updates and runs!
