Story
The idea behind the run was to raise awareness and money for the fight against Alzheimer's. My dad passed away from this cruel and crippling disease 4 years ago but he has left behind his will to fight to myself, my sisters and my mum. Both my sisters have undertaken challenging events to raise awareness for Alzheimer's Research UK and I thought it was my turn, with some help from my brother in law- Anu, to take on a challenge for ourselves. We have both been fairly fit and active but the idea of running 100 miles was definitely a large step in to the unknown. After months of training we are preparing ourselves to go the distance and run from Poole to Budleigh in memory of my beloved father, Ronnie Ward. Budleigh Salterton was one of his favourite places and he used to play football for both the local football teams. We aim to complete the run in as close to 36 hours as possible and then celebrate as dad would have liked with a BBQ on the beach.
